Identyfix — Groover Press Release
Personal text for the Groover campaign around Identyfix, Iterafix, and the upcoming Ambivalence album.
Music is my hobby, my passion, and producing music has been part of my life for almost more than 20 years now. Using my own voice for singing and on my own songs, which I compose from time to time, was never an option for me until today, because I myself didn’t have enough self-confidence for it. For a few months now I’ve been taking a break from regular working life, because I want to realize my dream, and since then I’ve been working on my music “career” as a producer of electronic music.
Everything from Zurich. My studio really isn’t anything too big, small but fine.
At the beginning of my withdrawal from the working world, I took the time to share my already existing songs with the world. That’s why in these first 2 weeks of freedom — as I like to call it — I released 2 small albums right away. One album «In Between», consisting of songs that all came about between longer workdays or on productive weekends. My more up-to-date album production-wise «Sentiments» I worked on in between during the last 2 years of my full-time employment. Music was for me during this phase of life a way to find balance and express emotions.
Since unfortunately I’ve mostly only been working on my music alone so far, I was however able to devote myself to my feelings and ideas without compromise. Unfortunately in the preceding sentence, because I would wish that I had more opportunities to work personally with talented female and male singers.
Since my time off I’ve started to deal concretely with whether my voice would be something for the world, or not. An expression from a former teacher of mine that always stays with me has accompanied me for a very long time in my life: «Des hauts et des bas». I myself am a kitesurfer — no pro, to put that into perspective right away —, but I love the feeling of freedom. My music gives me the same thing at times, primarily during the creation process. Coming back to the statement that accompanies me, «ups and downs», I’ve been working on a new album called «Ambivalence» since the release of my first 2 albums.
Identyfix is one of the last tracks on it. Identyfix is basically only an excerpt, to be precise the ending, from a 10-hour session during which I worked on the (yes — even for me) way too long track «Iterafix - make me feel». «Iterative Love» is an already released single for it (released at the same time as «Identyfix»), whereby it’s the beginning of «Iterafix - make me feel».
The goal of my track Iterafix was at the beginning to make something simple and easy. In doing so I had — as you can still hear on «Iterative Love» — quite a bit of trouble. Afterwards I then found a way to actually realize the simplicity I was looking for. Probably because during the session it became clear to me what complexity the created beginning of «Iterafix - make me feel», respectively «Iterative Love», had.
With Identyfix it’s a track where I, after a very long back and forth between «album release yes» and «album release no», thought: «yes, you can do that». Afterwards I decided on the Groover campaign, because I had to tell myself, if you really want to live your dream, this public part belongs to it too, which I don’t really like at the moment though.
My life, as long as I’m allowed to be here, is a sine wave. Shaped by ups and downs, no matter whether on land, in and on the water, in the air, or in a way where I’d rather bury myself in a hole and hide.
